Simple Shredded Beef Taco's

Shredded Beef Taco's are a nice change from your ordinary ground beef mixture. This recipe just came to mind one day.

I was tired of the same old ground beef taco meat, so I thought using beef and shredding it would be so much better. So I just tossed some ingredients in my slow cooker and gave it a shot.
Everyone loved it!!! This recipe has been a favorite in our house ever since. It's great because it only requires just a few ingredients to make the meat so flavorful.

I have also used the exact ingredients and made Shredded Chicken Tacos and they are just as tasty.
I usually do a large roast so i can have leftover meat to make enchiladas. Well that is if i have leftovers.

I could eat the meat all by itself, it's that tender. Now, this is not a Authentic Mexican recipe by any means, but it sure is Delicious.
You can serve this with regular taco shells or with tortillas to make soft taco's its really versatile. Just add some Spanish Rice and beans and you have a wonderful meal. Lets get started.
As usual fashion the full recipe is at the end of the post.

These are the ingredients you will need. Toppings not pictured. I know it doesn't look like a lot of ingredients, but that's what makes it so simple. It really does have a great flavor. Plus I have little ones at home so that really cant eat anything to spicy. My kids love this.

Place roast in slow cooker. I used a pretty good size roast about 2 1/2lbs

Sprinkle Taco Seasoning over meat.

Then add Picante Sauce.

Cover, set on low setting and cook for 6-8 hours.

I removed my meat about half way through and cut into smaller chunks and returned meat back to the slow cooker. When the 6-8 hours was up I removed meat to cutting board and shredded beef with two forks. Place shredded meat back in slow cooker to keep warm.

* Sorry my picture was really blurry of shredding the meat, so i did not add it *

I found this quick and easy way to warm taco shells. It's probably not a new idea but it is for me. A couple years back my brother in law said he saw this on a cooking show. Preheat your oven to warm you taco shells. Place taco shells upside down on the rack of your oven so they hang. (see above) heat just until lightly browned and hot. Remove with oven MIT. You don't have to dirty a baking sheet this way.

Place meat in a serving bowl and add all your favorite taco toppings.

I served mine with all the regular taco fixens and Mexican pinto beans. I cooked my beans in the pressure cooker with water, onion, garlic, a little chili powder, cumin, some Lawry's seasoning salt, a bit of bacon. I usually have re fried beans but i just wanted regular pinto beans today.

Excellent idea for warming up the taco shells girlfriend. Your shredded meat looks yummy. I found that with my family, I can make tacos out of anything as long as there's lots of salsa.
