Carson's Favorite Cinnamon Crescents

It was breakfast time at the Butler house today and Carson requested as he calls them "little cinnamon twists." I am pretty sure this is not a new recipe by any means, but it's new to us and really fun to prepare. This is definitely a breakfast that the kid's can help out with or even prepare all on their own. I have come to find that my children share the same love of cooking as I do. They fight over who is going to help me make whatever it is I am going to make on that particular meal. My daughter loves to cook and I am so glad we share the same interest we have so much fun together and I have a instant second set of hand's at any time and I don't even have to ask. But this was Carson's day it was so hard for Mackenzie to watch instead of help, but i promised that she could help me out this week on a very special cooking project for just her and mommy so she is really excited about that. I don't want to give out to many details , so i will end it at that.

Our local grocery store had Pillsbury Crescent Rolls on sale the other day. They were marked down so low it seemed like we were stealing them instead of buying them. They were on sale because they were due to expire within a week so my wheels were spinning in my head of all the fun recipes we can make with those little guys. (so papilla cheesecake, cream cheese crescents, taco roll ups, nacho pie and cinnamon twists the ideas are endless.) I walked out with 15 -20 can's of the Pillsbury Crescent rolls they were the 4 count size, but priced at .05 each what a steal!!!!! I love finding great deals like that. Well the first thing we did was the cinnamon crescents they are so yummy and so easy to prepare in a pinch. I can't decide if i like regular cinnamon rolls or the cinnamon crescents better. I don't have any exact measurements it's the kind of thing that you just eye ball it on the ingredients to your liking, so lets get started.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees while you prepare the crescents.
Unroll the crescent rolls and separate into triangles. Butter each one with margarine.

Grab a helper or do this by yourself. Sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar all over each triangle as much as you like there are no rules here.

Shake Shake Shake, Shake Shake Shake all over.... Carson is doing such a great job. I had a hard time getting him to stop adding all that cinnamon sugar he kept saying more mom!!

Roll up each triangle from the widest part to the smallest point and place about 1 inch apart on a greased baking sheet. You can sprinkle the tops of each with more cinnamon sugar if you like it's really up to you.

place on the top rack of the oven and bake at 350 for about 9-12 minutes or until golden brown and each crescent is cooked. Cool and frost.

I just whip up a simple powdered sugar glaze to drizzle over each crescent. Start with about
1 1/2 - Cups Powdered Sugar, 1tsp Vanilla Extract, 1- tsp margarine and a couple tsp of Milk.

Mix all the ingredients together until it is a smooth consistency where you are able to drizzle it over each crescent.

There ya go it doesn't get any easier than that.

Hey Tina, I saw some Pillsbury products in our supermarkets in Singapore recently. I am tempted to pick up the crescent rolls and try what you did with it.

We love cresents. How fun to turn them into cinnamon rolls. I love the photos of the help you had in making them :) Your blog is great, I found it from the mom blogs.
Yum, Yum, this looks marvelous. How nice to have your young son help out! You are a great mom!

I found a similar recipe the other day and my family loves them. Instead of a triangle you do a rectangle(2 crescents together) and rollup and cut into 5 pieces, it makes little mini cinnamon rolls!

My son's Christmas party at school will be a brunch. This is absolutely perfect. Because it doesn't take much time, I can fix them just before I go to the school and they will still be warm and fresh. Yummy. Of course, may have to test them out this week to make sure. LOL!

Wouldn't cream cheese in the middle be great? I love anything with cinnamon and sugar, and love cream cheese, so the two would be great.
