Bananarita Smoothie

I made Christy's Bananarita Smoothie. What wonderful creamy goodness. I had it for Breakfast I love smoothies for breakfast actually i had two glasses of this stuff. I wasn't to sure of adding the lime, but i did exactly as the recipe said and it was a perfect combination it ended up having just a hint of the lime flavor it was so yummy and good. My DH and my oldest son along with me really loved these. I cant wait to get some more bananas so I can make it again. Perfect for a quick breakfast on the run. I used some bananas that i had previously froze they come in so handy and perfect for smoothies. I have froze mine peeled or un peeled both ways are fine. A lot of people have problems removing the peeling once they are frozen but it is pretty easy for me. I just let the bananas defrost then cut of each end and then make a cut down one side and pull the peeling back and that's it. Frozen bananas are great for smoothies, banana bread or muffins.

Banarita Smoothie

4 bananas (fresh or frozen)
1/2 C milk or soymilk
1/4 C sugar
1/2 C lime juice
Ice

Fill blender halfway full of ice.
Add other ingredients. Blend until frothy. Serve!

Woo hoo! I'm the first to comment! Your smoothie sounds dee-lish!! I'm a big banana fan as well, but if I'm dragging out a full sized blender, it's for some serious margaritas (rimmed with sugar, of course!)for a kitchen full of friends!!
If I ever get a blog going, maybe I'll post my "serious margaritas" recipe!

I love the strawberry smoothie recipe I make for a low cal treat.
2 cups of frozen strawberries, 1 cup skim milk and 2 packets of splenda. This is very refreshing on a hot summer day. Put all in the blender and process until smooth. Strawberries are frozen, do not thaw.

Hi Tina..I am a flight attendant for SWA. I am always trying to shed some pds. and eat better when I am at home. Airport food gets old real fast. I make lots of Protein Smoothies at home. One of my favorite is 1 frozen Banana, Scoop of Chocolate Soy Protein powder, Frozen bag of berry mix, Tsp. vanilla, Milk. I eye ball everything but only use about 3/4 cup milk. And about 1/2 cup of berries. Blend until thick and smooth. It is sooo good and helps with the chocolate fix.

Smoothies, the breakfast of choice...I love um. I slice and freeze bananas, peaches, strawberries, all my fruit in a single layer. When frozen I place it all in a gallon zip-lock bag. I also freeze no sugar added pineapple & apple juice in ice cube trays. Now, all the prep is done so breakfast is fast and simple and healthy. I add about 1 cup pineapple juice, 3 frozen cubes of juice, banana slices, and peach slices.(thants my fav) Then blend till smooth. Less juice make a thicker shake like your pic. Oh, I also use can fruit in it own juice or lite juice, drain and freeze. Your blender is awesome...Since I'm by myself the small one is perfect. Love your blog.

I make a similar smoothie with orange juice instead of lime, and omitting the sugar.

When I'm feeling indulgent I replace the ice and milk with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream.

I was skeptical about the lime milk mixture. It tastes wonderful. Reminds me a little of key lime pie.
