A Green Bean side dish flavored with bacon, onions and a semi - sweet and sour glaze made from vinegar and sugar.
For the next couple of posts I think I will lay of the sweets to even things out a bit. Today I am featuring one of my favorite green bean dishes., Sweet & Sour Green Beans! This recipe is so simple to pull together and it utilizes ingredients you usually have on hand, so that's always a plus.
The first time I had this dish was years and years ago when my mother in law served at our Thanksgiving Dinner. I was immediately hooked, the sweet and sour flavor was such a twist to plain old green beans. My husband loved them so I knew this recipe was a keeper.
I didn't have to look far this Christmas season when I was looking for a vegetable side dish to go with our Christmas Dinner. I hope you give this recipe a try I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the sweet and sour taste.
Fry the bacon and crumble into pieces; set aside. Add green beans to baking dish. Mix the sugar and vinegar together and add the mixture to the green beans. Add the crumbled bacon onions if using and a little pepper; lightly mix to combine. Cover and bake at 350 until the beans are heated through, about 15-20 minutes.

Your green bean looks very good. Easy and something that would be a good change to plain ol green beans.

Have a great day, Kimberly
I have several Gooseberry Patch cookbooks and enjoy them very much.
The green beans look fantastic. I'll have to try them.
The green bean recipe looks tasty and oh so easy ( always a bonus). Do you think you could use frozen green beans, instead of canned?
Looking forward to more sugarless posts!
Love the green beans
