Bama Steak and Cheese Sandwiches

Tonight for dinner we made these super easy Bama Steak & Cheese Sandwiches. They turned out Awesomely Good. (awesomely probably not being a word LOL), but that's the only way I can describe them. My husband really liked them, so much that he is taking the leftovers to work tomorrow for lunch. Darn now there's no leftover for me. I really loved the flavor of the Dale's Sauce which was only intensified with the flavor from the peppers and the onions I was just in heaven with all those veggies!!!

My DH on the other hand dislikes both the onions and the peppers, he loves the flavor but not the actual pepper and onion. He did tell me if I cut them smaller he would of ate them. I just cant win with the whole pepper onion thing I cut them in bigger chunks so he can pick them out and I still cant win UGH!!!!

That's OK because I have eaten about all of them all by myself. ~grins~ I originally got this recipe from Christy at Southern Plate. These Bama Steak & Cheese Sandwiches have been on my To Cook List since November and now I finally got around to making them. I wanted a easy dinner tonight because tomorrow night is mine and dds big night....... We get to go and see Paula Deen for her New Cookbook Promotion.

I'm so syked and excited I cant think of anything else, much less dinner. So it was a easy night tonight and No Cookin for this mommy tomorrow. The rest of the group is on their own for dinner!!!!! and I ain't feeling a bit bad for them. My stomach feels like it is tied in a billon knots, I cant believe i am going to be in the same room as Paula Deen + The first one in the door to pick our seats IKES!!!

These are the ingredients you will need: 1 - lb Sliced Deli Roast Beef, Cheese of your choice (Shredded), 1 Onion, 1 Green Bell Pepper, Dales Sauce, 1/2 stick Butter or Margarine and Hogies Buns

Chop up your roast beef .

Chop up the onions and peppers as well. I did bigger chunks so my picky people can pick the out.

Melt 1/2 stick butter or margarine in skillet. Add your onions to the skillet. Add a tablespoon or so of your sauce, depending on your taste.

Cook this over medium heat until your onions are tender, stirring often

Add chopped roast beef and continue cooking and stirring just until your roast beef is warmed. If you like, add another two tablespoons of your sauce add to your liking.

I spead a little bit of butter on the hoagies and toasted them on a griddle first. YUMMY.

Once that has been stirred in and your roast beef is good and warm, turn off stove eye and sprinkle cheese all over the top and let sit until melted. Spoon onto Sandwich rolls or Hoagies. If you like you can add more cheese ~grins~

soft deli or kaiser rolls

This is my favorite recipe of Christy's...I've made them several times since she posted the recipe...I've not toasted the buns though...may do that the next time!

Those look so good and easy. My 14 year old son would be drooling looking at those sandwiches. I believe I'll have to give those a try.

Yum! Love the peppers!
I love this sandwich! Well, I haven't specifically done THIS sandwich but it's similar to the Philly Cheesesteak I love so much. My hubs is the same way - he'll eat the meat and cheese but doesn't want the veggies on it either. I'm like that is what makes the sandwich!! He's like that with fajitas too - no peppers, no onions... I'm like um, what's the point LOL!! Just order a steak for pete's sake!

Have a great Paula Deen Day - get some pictures if you can and be sure to fill us in with a post when you get back!!

Love the recipe. I put the onions and peppers in the food processor. By the time the cheese melts, DH can't see them. I get them to eat spinach and veggies that way. Put them in meatloaf or spaghetti sauce.

Hi, Tina. Since I hit the 80's (age), I have become the world's worst cook. I just don't care about cooking anymore. My kids are grown and I don't see them every day -- hardly seems worthwhile cooking for myself. HOWEVER, I am going to the store to see if there are any strawberries. I'll try the Strawberry Cobbler today and tomorrow the Bama Steak and Cheese Sandwich. I love strawberries, and I know my daughter and grandson will love the Bama Steak and Cheese sandwiches. I have a roast defrosting, so may do that first and use your No-Fail Beef Pot Roast. That will wear me out and I'll have enough to last past the coming weekend. Thanks......you have a terrific website and just mouth-watering recipes. (You're going to see Paula Dean......oh, how I love that lady, and I know I will never have the opportunity to see her other than on the shopping show. Say "hi" for me.
