CopyKat Pizza Hut Pepperoni Pan Pizza

Now you can make your favorite Pizza Hut Pan Pizza at home with this simple copy kat recipe.
Friday Night at our house is usually Pizza Night. I think having a simple meal to end a long busy work week is just what everyone needs. We enjoy pizza quite a bit, but can always afford to order delivery.

So what's the best alternative to pizza delivery? Making it yourself! If you think making your own pizza is hard, it's really not. Once you get the hang of it, it's really pretty easy. My kids love to help when it comes to pizza making, so don't be afraid to get the family involved.

When it comes to pizza making I like to keep it simple, but delicious. We do like to experiment with different flavors, but nothing beats a good old pepperoni and cheese pizza.

To have a good pizza I think you need to start with a great crust. Thick, chewy and crispy is my pizza crust of choice. To achieve that I depend on my No Fail Pizza Crust recipe. If you're lucky enough to find a good pizza crust recipe than stick with it.

On our last pizza night I tried a new recipe for a CopyKat Pizza Hut Pan Pizza. I couldn't wait to share this recipe, because the pizza was out of this world good. The crust was thick, chewy and crispy just the way I like it.

I did make one change to the original recipe. Instead of using their recipe for pizza crust I used my own. I'm just more comfortable using my no fail recipe so that's what I went with. I also decreased the oil from 3 oz per pan to only 2 tablespoon per pan.

I just couldn't bring myself to adding that much oil. No worries though because the end result was a perfectly crispy crust. If you're a big fan of Pizza Huts Pan style pizza then this recipe is a must to try.

Lets get started and I can show you just how easy this pizza was to throw together. Start by making the pizza dough and then knead on a lightly floured surface. Knead until the dough is no longer sticky. Place the pizza dough into a oiled bowl and turn the dough to coat.

Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap. Let the dough rests in a warm place for 20 minutes.
Divide dough into two balls. In two 9″ cake pans add enough oil to cover each pan making sure to spread the oil evenly.

Using a rolling pin, roll out each dough ball to about a 9″ circle. Place in cake pans. Cover each pan with plastic wrap that has been sprayed with non stick spray. Let rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes - 1 hour.

Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees. Spritz the edges of the pizza crust with butter spray.  Spoon 1/3 cup pizza sauce on each pizza and spread to within 1 inch of edge. Distribute about one cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on each pizza. Add your toppings of choice (pepperoni, canadian bacon, veggies, olives, cooked sausage or ground beef, etc.) Top with additional mozzarella cheese (about 1/2 cup).

Place in the oven and cook until cheese is bubbling and the outer crust is brown – about 15 -18 minutes.

Slice and Enjoy.

Tina, this picture looks like it's should be an advertise for a pizza house. It's perfect in every way right down to the red checked table cloth.

Thank you so much Jackie. For some reason that is always the material I pull out for pizza photos.

Omg I made this crust last night and it was PERFECT! Even tho I didn't use the cake pans (because I make 2 HUGE 16" pizzas to feed this tribe) I let it rise as directed on my pizza pans, topped and baked as directed. Only change I'll make....baked it halfway first without cheese because it was a little undercooked (not crispy) because my cheese was getting golden and I didn't want to burn it! Lol, might be the cheese I used tho. I'm making it again today, but just as breadsticks in a 9x13 pan. :)

Kristi if you click on the actual link for the no fail pizza crust I do the same thing. I pre cook it for about 10 minutes before adding the toppings. Turns out perfect everytime.

Thanks again.
And I thought I have to be professional to make a pizza at home. Thanks a lot for sharing this recipe. Now I can surprise my children anytime they ask for pizza.

Have you ever tried making the dough using a breadmachine and using the dough setting?? I am still nervous about working with bread on my own.

I always use my bread machine to make pizza, just add water first and end with yeast, making a well in the flour to add it...

HI. I live in Asia and have to take pizza to a friends party. If I make the whole pizza (toppings and all) and then it has to sit for an hour at room temp will the dough still be ok? not too gooey? thanks

The crust baked up perfectly. It was nice and crispy, however, The baking soda in this recipe didn't work for me. Tasted kind of buiscit-y. My hubby liked it though, cos he loves buiscits.

Looks yummy! I want to make this tomorrow for some company coming over. Could I make the dough ahead of time, as in right now (1141 pm) and use it tomorrow evening?

Anonymous #14 I believe the recipe calls for baking powder instead of soda.
