Honey Pecan Pie - Perfect for Thanksgiving

This honey pecan pie is my new go-to pecan pie recipe, flavored with honey and filled with toasted pecans.

Hi everyone! Can you believe there's only 16 days left until Thanksgiving? This month has really gotten away from me. I have my Thanksgiving menu all planned out and I've also done some of the grocery shopping. Every year on Thanksgiving I always serve Pumpkin, Apple and Pecan Pie for dessert. 

I try and make a variety of pies in the hopes to please everyone. Every year I make the same apple and pecan pie recipe, because they're always a huge hit. A couple weeks back Walmart asked me to share a recipe that would be perfect to serve for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

This was the perfect opportunity to try out a pie recipe that I've been dying to make. The particular pie I'm talking is Miss Kay's Honey Pecan Pie. My family are huge fans of Duck Dynasty, and ever since I heard Phil talk about Miss Kay's Honey Pecan Pie, I have been obsessed in finding the recipe.  

Recently Miss Kay's Duck Commander Cookbook was released and I was hoping the recipe was included and it was! Since I was at Walmart I picked up all the ingredients I needed to make a practice pie. I told myself if the recipe turns out then I would be serving this pecan pie for Thanksgiving.



I have made the same Pecan Pie recipe for years, but I have to admit........ this Honey Pecan Pie blows mine right out of the water. I'm thinking it's the addition of the honey in her pie. This recipe is really simple to make, so don't be intimidated. If you don't have time to bake a pie for the holidays Walmart has a great selection of bakery pies. I promise I wont tell.   

These are the ingredients you will need: 1 - 9 in deep dish store bought pie crust, chopped pecans or pecan halves, sugar, salt, butter, corn syrup, honey, eggs and vanilla extract.

I bet it would be even better! Her recipe actually calls for a store bought pie crust, so I'm glad to see Miss Kay likes to simplify things as well.

I like the idea of adding honey to pecan pie and the recipe sounds wonderful.
Have Christmas thing going on first weekend in Dec. so I thought I would use this recipe and make into mini pecan tartlets.

Any idea if there is a substitute for corn syrup?

You can substitute corn syrup with cane syrup, yellow label syrup or maple syrup.

I just made this pie. For some reason the pecans and the crust over baked and the middle didn't set. I wonder what I did wrong?

I use a pie guard over my crusts, so they don't get too brown. You can also use foil around the edges. My pie was finished at 45 minutes. It sounds like the crust got done before the pie. You do actually want it to be a bit giggly in the middle still, because it continues to set up as the pie cools. Not a lot just a bit. I added a link in the post on how to make a DIY Pie Guard. It sounds magnificent. Pecan is my favorite pie, and I am crazy about Miss Kay, so we know it's gotta be wonderful! A dear friend took to me to see Miss Kay recently - what a charge! Thanks for sharing.

I did put foil around the edges of the crust when I noticed they were baking quicker than the pie. But I had to take it out of the oven before the pecans completely burned. The middle of the pie set up some but there was a lot more liquid than what had set. I also baked it for 45 minutes or longer. Oh well.

I didn't have deep dish crusts so instead I'm.using 2 regular size crusts. I assume you reduce cooking time since the pies are not as thick as deep dish. Correct?

I use maple syrup instead of honey. The version printed in Parade magazine says you can use either. And though it says a store bought crust Miss. Kay does make her own crust. Anyway this is the best pecan pie recipe I have ever made. It is my husband's favorite pie and he can't get enough of this recipe. I actually have a pie in the oven right now for Pi day!

I had to come back to this recipe and leave a comment. My mom and I have a pecan pie contest every year. Usually I am the winner. But I made the mistake of telling her about this recipe...she came to your site, made the recipe for Thanksgiving and she won this year. So I know she thanks you...meanwhile I bow to the 2013 winner :)

@Kelly, Recipe ingredient listings are exempt from copyright infringement. It is the directions that are protected. I am also crediting the source of the recipe, using my own photos, and directions. I am curious to what your point is?

I have made this recipe from Miss Kay many times upon request of my husband. I make my own sugar cookie crust and it is to die for! Everyone loves it and I might have to make 2 this year just so we have a couple pieces to take back home :)
