DIY Dollar Tree Rustic Farmhouse Christmas Lanterns

Rustic Farmhouse Christmas Lanterns using mostly Dollar Tree Items for around $10
I don't think that I have ever been so obsessed with Dollar Tree than I have this year. This years Dollar Tree holiday craft items and decor pieces have been really awesome. I honestly need to stay off of you tube and stay out of DT because I keep finding more and more items to DIY.

I get most of my Dollar Tree DIY craft inspiration from Bargain Bethany and Krafts by Katelyn (two of my favorite Dollar Tree you tube craft vloggers).  Today, I'm sharing my take on Kraft's by Katelyns Rustic Farmhouse Christmas Candle Holders. When I spotted the red fragrance warmers at my local Dollar Tree, I knew they would be the perfect base for Christmas lanterns.

I was originally going to grab the white warmers and paint them red, but I was surprised when I came across the red ones. Except for the buffalo check ribbon, metal lantern ornaments and the E6000, all of my materials came from the Dollar Tree! I hope you enjoy this simple Christmas craft idea.

First gather all your supplies together: you'll need 2 - ceramic holiday fragrance warmers, glass cylinder vases, garland wire ties, 2 - galvanized Christmas lantern ornaments (walmart), ribbon of your choice, battery operated led tea lights, E6000 adhesive, glue gun and glue sticks (I use Gorilla glue brand).

To start remove the labels from the bottom of the glass vases. Add some E6000 adhesive to the bottom edges of the glass vase and then add some hot glue for instant adhesive. Place the glass vase over the warmer and press down. The E6000 takes 48-72 hours for to fully dry, but the hot glue will hold it all in place.

This is what your lanterns should look like so far.

I removed all the greenery and the berries from the galvanized ornament lanterns and set them aside.

The reason I removed the greenery was so the ornament lanterns would center evenly inside the vases.  When they had all the greenery on them they pushed off to one side.

Wrap a garland tie around the bottom of the glass vase and secure with hot glue.

Add a few of the berries and secure onto the greenery with hot glue.

Make 2 simple bows and attach to the fragrance warmer using hot glue. I made a simple bow and criss crossed the ribbon. Tie off and secure the bow with jute string.  Cut a little piece of the bow and wrap it around to hide the jute twine. Secure with hot glue.

Add one led tea light into each lantern and that's it.

I love how these turned out. Turn on the tea lights and enjoy.

I placed my lanterns on my dining room table on each side of my Christmas centerpiece. This centerpiece is another Kraft'sbyKatelyn idea that I made using the Dollar Tree Table Top Christmas trees and an existing farmhouse box that I had.

Dollar Tree Rustic Christmas Lanterns

Rustic Farmhouse Christmas Lanterns using mostly Dollar Tree Items for around $10.

Supplies

  • 2 Dollar Tree ceramic holiday fragrance warmers
  • 2 Dollar Tree 7.25 glass cylinder vases
  • 2 Dollar Tree wired garland ties
  • 2 galvanized rustic snowman or tree lantern ornaments (Walmart)
  • red or black buffalo check ribbon
  • 2 Dollar Tree flameless LED battery operated tea lights (2 count pack)
  • E6000 permanent adhesive
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks

Instructions

  1. First remove the labels from the bottom of each glass vase. Add some E6000 adhesive to the bottom rim of each glass vase and then add some hot glue for an instant adhesive.
  2. Place the glass vase over the warmer and press down. The E6000 takes 48-72 hours for to fully dry.
  3. Remove all the greenery and berries from the galvanized ornament lanterns and set them aside. I removed the greenery so the little ornament lanterns centered evenly inside the vases.
  4. Wrap a garland tie around the bottom of the glass vase and secure with hot glue.
  5. Add a few of the berries and secure with hot glue.
  6. Make 2 simple bows and attach to the fragrance warmer using hot glue. To make the bows, I just cris crossed the ribbon and tied them off with jute string.
  7. Cut a little piece of the bow and wrap it around to hide the jute twine. Secure with hot glue.
  8. Add one led tea light into each lantern and that's it. Turn on the tea lights and enjoy.
