Tender, juicy, slow cooked spiral ham with a sweet brown sugar - honey glaze, maraschino cherries and pineapple chunks.
This is my go-to-recipe for holiday ham and it's all done in the slow cooker!!!! This recipe is easy to make with just 6 ingredients and - so delicious. There are only a few preparation steps and then the slow cooker does all the work. Most spiral hams come with a glazing packet, I don't use it, because I like to use a homemade glaze instead.
This recipe makes a tender, juicy holiday ham with a sweet brown sugar - honey glaze, maraschino cherries and pineapple chunks. The pineapple and cherries look so pretty tucked in between the ham slices, so yummy and so festive.
How to make the Ham glaze:
This simple glaze is to make combining the reserved pineapple juice or syrup, maraschino cherry juice, mustard (yellow or Dijon), honey and brown sugar. You might think with all those ingredients that it's going to be crazy sweet, but I assure you it is NOT!
Cook the ham in your slow cooker on the LOW setting (basting occasionally) for no more than 3 hours or you will dry the ham out and no one likes a dry ham. Spiral hams are fully cooked so we're just really warming it up and flavoring it. Most hams are cooked for 13 minutes for each pound of ham.
Serve the ham slices hot with the pineapple and cherries, if desired. Store any leftover in the refrigerator for 3-5 days, or in the freezer for up to 2 months. Make sure to store in an air tight container or freezer bag if freezing.
What to serve with this Holiday Ham:
This ham pairs beautifully with Country Cornbread Dressing, Sweet & Sour Green Beans, Sweet Potato Casserole, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, our favorite Pineapple Fluff and homemade dinner rolls. Don't forget dessert! My family's favorite is Southern Honey Pecan Pie and this vintage Christmas Jell-O Poke Cake!
